How to Find the Right Pageant Coach for YOU

Having the right Pageant Coach is important when competing in any pageant.

I’ve seen contestants choose coaches who were not a good fit for them.

And they wound up not getting the results they had hoped for.

How to find the right Pageant Coach for you can be difficult, especially when you’re new to pageantry.

But not to worry ‘cause ya girl’s got you covered.

How To Find a Pageant Coach?

When you're a beginner pageant girl it can be tough to know where to find a Pageant Coach.

Training with a Pageant Coach in person is often preferable.

You can start by asking past contestants for recommendations within your area.

Even if they didn't have a Pageant Coach, chances are they know someone who did and they can point you in the right direction.

If there are no available Pageant Coaches in your area then look online.

Some Pageant Coaches offer travel packages in which they will travel to you in order to provide coaching.

The other option is do online coaching.

This has become a popular form of pageant coaching over the years and has been very effective in preparing contestants.

One of the best places to check out for coaching services is Pageant Planet.

They have a membership program that offers assistance with wardrobe selections, mock interviews and more.

On their site, you can also review profiles created by Pageant Coaches experienced in a variety of systems.

But before you agree to work with any Pageant Coach you should consider the following:

Hire a Pageant Coach Who is Compatible with You.

Miss World Cayman Islands 2019, Jaci Patrick and her pageant coach, Miss Universe Jamaica 2017, Davina Bennett.

Before you hire a Pageant Coach it’s important to ask questions about how they work.

By conducting your own interview, you will be able to gage their personality.

Ask yourself do I like this person?

Can I see myself working with them?

Remember this is a partnership, you each have a role to play.

You have to be able to get along if you’re going to work together.

The goal is to create synergy.

Find a Pageant Coach who Customizes their Training

Choose a coach who will help you identify and improve in your weak areas.

Let’s say you struggle with interview, then choose a coach who is strong in interview training.

And even if your preferred Pageant Coach is not strong in the area you require, they may have contacts they can call on to assist you in that specific area.

The goal is to do well in all segments of the competition.

To achieve that you will need to focus on your weak points to bring them up to par.

That's why its important to find a Pageant Coach willing to customize their training to meet your needs.

Every contestant is different.

They should be able to see where you need help by conducting a short assessment.

You’ll find that some coaches may do this through a simple meet and greet.

While others may take a more formal approach and produce a *written assessment.

Hire a Pageant Coach with Experience in Your System

Coaching is not the same for all pageants.

That's why it's important to find a coach with experience in the pageant system you're interested in.

But, you don't have to dismiss someone for their lack of experience.

Every first time Pageant Coach has to start somewhere.

Other than experience you should listen for their passion for pageantry.

And their enthusiasm for training YOU.

You’ll also want to be sure the coach is at least knowledgeable about your pageant system and how it's judged.

Set Your Expectations

It’s important to state what you expect from a Pageant Coach.

You should also be upfront about what you want out of your pageant experience.

Some contestants only want to have fun and aren't concerned with being a finalist.

While others are competitive and want to be in the Top 3.

Just as it’s important to know what you want, it’s equally important to ask what the coach expects of you.

Some Pageant Coaches are very competitive and will have high expectations of their contestants.

After all, having a contestant make the finals looks good on their track record.

And let’s face it, who doesn’t like a win or a placement?

In any case, once you and your coach are on the same page, you'll both be able to better manage your expectations.

Be sure to listen to the coach as they lay out their expectations.

When Should You Start Training and How Much Do Pageant Coaches Charge?

Now that you know the key points to address you may be wondering when is the best time to start working with a coach and how many sessions will you need?

This depends on how much work you need, what your budget is and how much time you have to meet with your Pageant Coach.

An experienced Pageant Coach will be able to determine how much work you need and this will help you choose a coaching package.

For beginner pageant girls, your coach may want to start working with you just prior to entering so that you can get a head-start.

Pageant Coaching packages can range from as low as $$ to $,$$$ depending on the coach you're working with.

Final Thoughts

You don't have to settle for just any Pageant Coach you can find.

It's okay to think critically and be selective about who you want to work with.

After all, this person will need to be someone you can trust in order for you to be able to work as a team.

Always remember that choosing a coach is just as much your decision as it is theirs.

How to find the right Pageant Coach for you has never been easier.

These steps will help you have a better coaching experience and make you feel more prepared.

Until next time xoxo,

T
